EDF Energies Nouvelles continues to make steady progress with the Shiloh II wind farm located in Solano County, California.
The company has declared commercial operation of the wind farm. Construction of the 150-megawatt wind farm, consisting of 75 REpower 2 MW turbines, commenced in May last year.
The power will be sold under a 20-year power purchase agreement to Pacific Gas & Electric, a US electricity company.
The company's spokesperson David Corchia said financing of the Shiloh II facility was arranged in challenging financial conditions. During the construction phase, enXco, the US subsidiary of EDF Energies Nouvelles, secured a project financing agreement with Nord LB, in partnership with CIC, Dexia and Société Générale, as well as an agreement with a group of investors led by JP Morgan, together with Wells Fargo and New York Life, which now holds a minority interest in the wind farm.
In its full year results, EDF Energies Nouvelles shared that wind energy capacity in service amounted to a gross figure of 2,030.6 MW at 31 December 2008, up 812.7 MW compared with the previous year (increase of 66.7 percent). During the fourth quarter alone, the Group commissioned 433.5 MW in gross capacity.
